The first inhabitants of Barbados were the Amerindians, in the 4th to the 7th century. After, in the 13th century, people of South America went to live in this country too. Between the 16th and the 17th century, Spanish and Portuguese came to take possession of Barbados. Many years later, in 1966, Barbados became an independent country.
In addition, the official languages in Barbados are English and Bajan. One of the popular attractions is the Arlington House that was built in the 18th century. This old monument represents the history of Barbados and the beginning of the sugar cane industry.
Furthermore, there is also the Harrison’s cave, that was formed from water erosion and it’s the most beautiful natural geological characteristic of Barbados. Therefore, it’s a tourist attraction since 1981. In this cave of 2.3 kilometres long, there are caverns, calcite formation, waterfalls and lakes.
