Barbadians eat a lot of local fish. For instance, yellow fin tuna, snapper and Mahi Mahi. Some of the national dishes of Barbados are Cou-Cou and flying fish. Cou-Cou is mainly consists of corn flour and okra. Okra is a kind of vegetable and that's in vogue in Barbados.
Moreover, some traditional food is cooked with English and African ingredients and a dash of local spices. Seasonings are also used in many dishes, like garlic, thyme, basil and paprika. Some great dishes are fish cakes, fish and chips, black pudding and macaroni pie. In almost every meal, we can found sweet potatoes, cassava, rice or pasta.
Since sugar is grown on the island, it’s obvious that sweet deserts are popular. Some traditional candies are chocolate fudge, coconut bread, lemon meringue pie and caramel mousse. The food is very exotic! In Barbados, it's very popular that food is sold by street vendors.
